  • ZANZIBAR

Simply uttering Zanzibar’s name conjures images of swaying palms and dazzling sands . The Zanzibar’s Archipelagos Largest Island is firmly on people’s radar and for good reason. Depending on where you stay on the Island, you can easily spend whole days enjoying Zanzibar beaches; swimming, sunbathing and making use of resorts pool and rental bikes. But we also recommend delving deeper to discover the islands spice-trade roots and the past lives on its extraordinary buildings, people and traditions. Stone town consists of a fascinating mix of Persian, Moorish, sub-continent, Arabic and European architecture, its winding streets too narrow for anything but bicycles or motorcycles. The buildings fronted by long concrete benches known as bazaars, and by huge and intricately carved doors. With Darajani, its largest market, located in the center of stone town and many of the city’s museum, palaces, forts and mosques (including the House of Wonders, Forodhani Gardens and what must be the worlds most beautiful pharmacy, the Old Dispensary) occupying prime spots along the beach front, Zanzibar City is absolute delight.

    MAFIA

Mafia Island is the largest of a small archipelago of islands and isles and is truly a paradise in the Indian Ocean. It is located on the southern of Zanzibar off the coast of Tanzania mainland. Being 25 km from the mainland and 130 km from Dar es Salaam, it is reachable by light aircraft in 45 minutes from Zanzibar and the Selous Game Reserve. The air and sea temperatures remain warm all year round with the rainy season between April to June. Today Mafia Island is known as a wild and beautiful Indian Ocean tropical island that is famous for deep sea fishing and scuba diving. Aquatic life is abundant and the coral gardens are pristine due to the protection of the Mafia Island Marine Park. The park is located between the Rufiji River delta to the west and the open Indian Ocean to the east. The dual influences of the river and the sea have combined to create a rich and exceptional biodiversity with unique landscapes under the sea and on dry land. It is a unique and perfect destination as part of a safari package or simply a place to unwind and get away from the daily, modern and busy world.

Swim with the Rare Giants, “The Whale sharks”

Whale sharks, the underwater gentle giants of the sea, are neither typically whales nor sharks. They do not have proper teeth, they are social, calm and are not predators. This is what makes whale sharks popular for marine wildlife tourism. They are the biggest recorded fish in the ocean globally. Swimming alongside the whale sharks is amusing. An adult whale sharks can measure up to around 20 meters long, weigh around 20 tonnes with some reaching up to 34 tonnes and have a potential to live up to 70 years. The current population is recorded to be 206 in December 2019 compared to approximately 100 individuals in 2012.
The best season for whale shark sighting is from October to February each year. November and December is the most reliable time for whale sharks sighting at Mafia Island. During peak season whale sharks can be easily seen nearshore
